USA Swimming Southern Zone

Age Group Swimming Championships

August 1 - 5, 2017

Tupelo, MS

TNT swimmers Trey Sheils and Letitia Sim, traveled to Tupelo, MS, to compete at the 2017 Southern Zone Age Group Championships.  Both swimmers competed as members of the Southeastern Zone Team and had an excellent meet,  accounting for 1 first place finish, 2 New NCSA Junior National Qualifying times, 4 Improved Time Standards, 11 New Team Records and 11 Personal Best Times.

Trey Sheils, age 15, competed in 5 individual events, scoring 17 points.  He also swam on 5 scoring relay teams. Trey finished first place in the boys 15 - 18 100 meter breaststroke, 6th in the 100 freestyle, 6th in the 50 freestyle, and 7th in the 200 breaststroke.  Trey's winning time in the 100 breaststroke was also an automatic qualifing time for the 2018 NCSA Junior National Championships.

Letitia Sim, age 14, competed in 4 individual events, scoring 10

points. She also swam on 4 scoring relay teams.  Letitia's time

in the 100 breastsstroke was an automatic NCSA Junior National

qualifying time.  Letitia finished 4th place in both the 13 - 14 girls,

100 and 200 breaststroke events. 

Improved Time Standards: Trey, 100 breaststroke AAAA, 100

butterfly AAA, 200 breaststroke AAA;  Letitia, 200 breaststroke

AAAA.

Improved Times: Trey, 200 breast (P), 200 breast (F), 100 fly,

100 free (P), 100 free (F), 100 breast (P)), 100 breast (F), 50 free;

Letitia, 200 breast 400 IM, 100 breast.

The Southern Zone of USA Swimming, includes13 Local Swimming Comittees (LSC;s) from 10 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.  Each Local Swimming Comitte (LSC) selects a Zone Team, based on age group power point rankings.

The Southeastern Zone Team includes swimmers, ages 11 to 18, from the States of Alabama, Tennesee and the Florida Panhandle. Trey and Letitia were selected to the Zone team, based on the top 3 power point scores that they achieved at the Southeastern Age Group Championshiop Meet, held July 20 - 23 in Huntsville, TN.
