I have been involved in swimming for 13 years and have been a swim coach for 3 years. I am originally from New Orleans, LA. and first became a lifeguard and swim instructor at the age of 15. I began swimming competitively in high school and during my senior year (2000), I was named Team Captain by my teammates. I received the MVP Award all four years. I also swam for the local country club.
I then swam for the Crescent City Swim Club (CCSC), a USA Swimming team, and from 2007-2008, I was an assistant coach. In 2007, CCSC won the short course championship. Beginning in 2008-2009, I was an assistant age group coach for CMSA. In 2009, I became the Head Coach for SAY Swim’s Chandler Branch. I am very excited to unite with the other YMCA sites and contribute to making SAY-TNT a great program.
I graduated from the University of Mobile in May of 2005 with a B.S. in Human Performance and Exercise Science and in December of 2006 with a second B.S. in Athletic Training. As a coach, I feel all children have potential. It is my job to ensure each child reaches his or her maximum level of potential and then strives to go beyond that level, not only in swimming, but also in life. Competitive swimming is not just about winning championships, but it teaches self-discipline, teamwork, and communication.
