TNT SWIMMING
2011 YEAR IN REVIEW

2011 marked TNT Swimming's eighth continuous year of providing Baldwin / Mobile families with a choice in professionally administered, year round competitive swimming programs at the Bounds Family YMCA in Daphne, Al.  It was a fun and exciting year highlighted by new levels of swimming success and continued traditions that make TNT a special experience for our swimmers and families. 

Here are some highlights of both Short Course and Long Course competitions from 2011.

TNT swimmers competed in a total of 20 USA Swimming sanctioned meets in 2011, accounting for 2 USA Junior National Qualifying Times, 7 NCSA Junior National Qualifying Times, 65 New Southeastern Championship Qualifying Times, 142 New Team Records, 210 Improved Age Group Time Standards and 1,156 Improved Times.  

At the Senor level, Kyle Simpson competed at the Speedo Junior National Championshps in Austin TX in December, and also the National Club Swimming Association Junior National Championships in Orlando, FL in March. Kyle is the first swimmer from TNT to qualify and compete at the Junior National level.

TNT Senior swimmers also performed well at the 2011 Alabama State High School Championships in Auburn. Six TNT Senor swimmers qualified for finals and scoring points for their High Schools, including Will Anderson (100 fly 2nd, 100 back 3rd), Sahra El - Hamaki (100 breast 8th, 200 IM 15th), Cameron Grant (50 free 6th, 100 free10th); Adele Mantiply (200 IM 10th), Kyle Simpson (100 back 2nd, 100 fly 3rd), and Ryan Simpson (100 back 11th).

At the Age Group level, TNT swimmers had a great year, winning the team's 4th Southeastern Swimming Team Championship banner in the small team division at the 2011 Southeastern Long Course Championships in Knoxville,TN. Six TNT swimmers scored points for the team at this meet, including Will Anderson, Emily Feldvoss, Adele Mantiply, Kyle Simpson, Ryan Simpson and Ashley Szydel.  TNT's 10 & under girls medley and freestyle relays, composed of Neely Hegan, Carolene Fouty, Kristin Stough and Emily Feldvoss also scored. Also competing as members of TNT's championship team were, Anna Fouty, Emma Laura Stough and Andrew Szydel. TNT now leads all Southeastern Swimming teams with 4 small team championship banners. 

For the fifth consecutive year, TNT swimmers earned a spot on the Southeastern Zone Age Group All - Star Team. This year both Will Anderson and Kyle Simpson qualified for "Zones," and competed at the 2011 Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Carey, North Caolina.  Kyle was the top point scorer for the SES Senior Boy's squad, as both he and Will helped propell the Southeastern team to victory over 13 other All Star Teams from throughout the Southern United States.  

One of the hallmarks of TNT swimming continues to be hosting fun and innovative "in house" specialty practice sessions and family oriented events.
2011 specialty practices included our  Mardi Gras Practice, Easter Egg Practice, Lazy River Swim Race, and Halloween Practices.. TNT Family events
included Short Course and Long Course Awards Dinners; New Family Welcome Party, and annual Christmas Party.

TNT's tradition of contributing to LSC, State and Area administration also continued during the past year, with TNT parents playing a significant role as volunteers in our sport, regularly working at various levels as deck officials at USA Swimming, Summer League and High School meet venues.

Finally, TNT Swimming was again selected to host Southeastern Swimming's 2012 Hall of Fame & Swimposium Weekend. This regional event will be held
October 6 - 7 in Gulf Shores / Orange Beach, AL.
