TNT SWIMMING
2010 YEAR IN REVIEW

2010 marked TNT's seventh year of providing Baldwin County's Eastern Shore communities with a choice in professionally administered, year round competitive swimming programs. As we begin another year, the team continues it's stable progression. thanks to the loyalty and commitment of our swimmers, coaches and team parents, as well as to our solid relationship with the Bounds Family YMCA, the area's finest swim training facility.

Based on the belief that each and every swimmer will reach his or her ultimate potential in senior swimming, and that failure to do so is more often caused by "too much too soon," TNT swimmers continue to experience success within a training program of gradually increasing degrees of commitment based upon age, ability and level of interest.

Competition highlights for 2010 include TNT winning it's third Small Team Championship at the 2010 Southeastern Short Course Championships in Nashville. The team also finished 2nd place at the 2010 Long Course Southeastern Championships, where TNT swimmers Kyle Simpson and Andrew Szydel were the only swimmers from the Baldwin / Mobile area to qualify for the Southeastern All Star Zone Team and compete as members of the SES All Star team in Atlanta. This marks the 4th consectuive year that TNT has placed a swimmer on the elite age group SES Zone Team.

Several TNT swimmers also led their high school swimming teams while competing at the 2010 Alabama State High School Swimming Championships.  Six of those swimmers; Will Anderson, Sahra El - Hamaki, Cameron Grant, Adele Mantiply, Kyle Simpson and Ryan Simpson, qualified for finals competition in individual events.

TNT Head Coach, Jan Mittemeyer was a featured speaker at the American Swimming Coaches 2010 World Clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana. Coach Jan gave two presentations including,  Thriving in a Small Market: Making Your Program Special, as well as a "meat and potatoes" talk on Teaching Freestyle and Backstroke Turns on the ASCA Age Group Track.

For the third time, TNT hosted the Southeastern Swimming Swimposium. This year's event featured the Ryan Lochte Swim Clinic. Lochte is the hottest swimmer in the world, having won the 2010 high point award at the USA National Championships and earning Swimmer of the Meet honors at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships.

TNT's tradition of contributing to LSC, State and Area administration also continued during the past year, with TNT parents leading the area as volunteers in our sport, regularly working at various levels as deck officials at USA Swimming, Summer League and High School meet venues.

One of the hallmarks of the TNT program continued hosting fun and innovative "in house" specialty practice sessions and family oriented events. 2010 specialty practices included our  Mardi Gras Practice, Easter Egg Dive, Lazy River Swim, Halloween Practices, and Level 5 Holiday Camps. TNT Family events included Short Course and Long Course Awards Dinners;  Kick off to Summer Party, New Family Welcome Party, Fall Picnic and annual Christmas Party.
